Independo Maps

The Independo Maps research project explored how digital maps could be easier to understand, including the use of pictograms for places and accessibility-aware map interactions.

One technical result is Leaflet Independo Maps, an open-source Leaflet plugin that displays points of interest using pictograms. The source code, prototypes, and project findings remain openly available so others can build on them.

This research phase is complete. The plugin, findings, and prototypes remain available for reuse and further development. A standalone Independo Maps app is not currently planned.
